Since we are have so many new issues marked with good-first-issue, I think we should add contribution guidelines to make it easier for prospective contributors to get started, ensure that contributions are consistent and follow good practice, and clear up any potential confusion they may have.

I was talking with theki about that too, although that feels like yet another thing that's dependent on #22 (we probably want to cover preferred ways to inject things and do config and stuff, which will hopefully be changed by that issue)

Now that #22 is closed we can start working on this. I'll see if I can head this starting tomorrow.
