I want to use my original dual wall switch to toggle the lights. Have tried the sonoff tx2 switches, but am not happy with the touch sensor. A good fix for me would be to use a module that can hide behind the switch, but most I have found are only for 1 switch/lamp. Is the Sonoff dualr3 switch supported by Tasmota? Sonoff Dual R3 is not yet in the template database but if it's based on ESP8266 it can be supported, even if 1st comer will have to do a little work Beside I would recommend Shelly devices over Sonoff. |

Yes, still only 3v3 - i still want to keep the opportunity to connect the logic analyzer. I will remove it if you tell me that there is no more need for this. Maybe some other warnings would be more helpful? a note: when in shutter mode it may be helpful to capture the data more frequently to detect blocking faster. |

What other warnings should be added? An energy monitoring chip only works on AC. As it doesn't measure AC it reports zero values it reports invalid data. See the source code for more info about initial data send and received; it resets the chip, configures the chip to required settings, reads calibration data and starts reading 6 registers every second. |

So the build 2021-03-05T17:32:46 does not seem to produce the boot loop any longer. But when looking at the console or syslog I see Syslog messages at level 4 look like this: Maybe the CRC error message could show the bits it really received for later verification - at least it would give a hint without having to attach a logic analyzer (and it would allow comparisson with logic analyzer data, because it may also be a sampling issue) |

The crc error is detected based on the received data: Apparently only a zero was received within the three mSec window normally enough time to receive 4 full packages. Once I receive my hardware I will re-introduce full package length checks for faster detection and allowing time for receiving the full package. As long as I do not have the hardware we will need to do with the 3 mSec read window in line with the Sonoff logic analyzer data. In the meantime I'll see how to handle single crc errors like by keeping the previous read value valid until several crc errors will be received. Do you see many crc errors? |

No. The AC power supply is part of the device and cannot easily be strapped. There are quite some boards available that can run on low voltage which you can complement with an IN219 module for power consumption. |

Hi all, I received 3 x Sonoff dualR3 today, and when straight in trying to flash them without any luck. I have flashed many other devices in my time and I'm unsure why this isn't working for me. What happens is, it looks like the packet header is being sent (TX lights flash on the LC231X programmer) but nothing is received (RX lights don't flash), and untimely get a timeout using Tasmotizer & ESP-Flasher. If I don't hold down the GPIO0 button and let it boot normally i do get some flashing RX lights on the programmer, so assume the wiring is all good. I suspected it might be a power issue being an ESP32, so used a separate power supply, but this didn't change anything. Is anyone able to help me out? Is it likely Sonoff have updated the firmware to block flashing?

That's not the recommended USB/serial adapter, yours may not be able to supply enough power. According to a data sheet I found, it is way low, at 50mA, which is problematic. I'd recommend a better one, good search term is "golden CH340G". Other than that, I'd recommend double-checking wiring details, and good solid connections. Locked firmware would be news, not heard of such a change. |

As usual, come back to the problem and solve it the first time. Managed to flash them all, it seemed to be power related. I had to have the USB connected and esp flash trying to connect, then with GPIO0 low apply power (sometimes blipping the power), and then it would eventually connect). I must have been doing something out of sequence when using the power supply earlier. Thanks for your help, golden CH340G ordered anyway. |

Hi, I found that the Zero Cross Detection template is also available for Sonoff DUAL R3. But I ask myself, is it useful if DUAL R3 only supports power metering and relay switching? It does not support dimming etc. Is not this setting just a waste of resources and energy? I don't know, IRQs etc. 🤔 |

As a note: I got 30 dual R3 and their idle cpu temperature is between 38 and 91C - most of them between 50 and 70 (and all of them sit in the same cellar which is still quite well ventilated…) So there is some sort of heat thing with the CPU temperature and that is why there was some white glue on most of the Devices between the plastic and the ESP32 daughter board when I opened it. And at 91C the board tends to reset frequently… Not sure what one can do after opening the Dual to keep the the cooling working. any ideas? |

The white glue I see most of the time is generally silicon based and not a heat conductor. It is most of the time used to either isolate pieces that could be on high voltage, or to absorb vibrations on coils and transformers The range of temperature that you is very surprising if they are all in the same place and equally ventilated. |

The temperature of the dual R3 is measured using an undocumented feature of the ESP32. It may well be that your device doesn't get that hot at all. As the default over-temp is set to 90 degrees it's expected your over 90 temp devices will power off. If you think the temp is bogus just raise the over-temp threshold to 120 by executing command EDIT: BTW my single dual r3 says 71 degrees Celsius but is just hand-warm. |

Well, my 30 devices really cover a huge temperature range and all are sitting in a cellar that is currently at 20C and all of the devices are placed on din rails using the provided brackets (as of now all without any extra housing) and yes: none of those devices feels any different temperature wise. so the setoption42 may solve the immediate issue but maybe there is a way to calibrate this temperature better - not sure how to get good calibration except for maybe pointing an ir camera at the CPU itself to calibrate the offset. as for the white glue: I have seen it on all my devices and it may be transporting a bit of heat away and reduce the measured temperature - even if just a little… |

Zero point calibration (zero point offset correction) still should be possible - but that would need to come from some external reference, which in the best case can only look at the outside of the chip - not inside. And there may be a production variation between devices that could explain this, but that is not easily accessible. i will look into the devices and their reported temperatures some more… |

No WPA3 support for Arduino ESP8266. Will probably not supported (in future). The core has a fix for the KRACK vulnerability. Please forgive my questions; I'm not familiar with the internals of Arduino and ESP. Is it planned for Tasmota to pick up "ESP32 v2.0" and thus support WPA3? If yes, is there already a specific Tasmota version targetted? Is the fix for KRACK already in the currently released Tasmota? Just as an idea: Even if Tasmota for ESP8266 will not support WPA3, it could consider to support PMF (protected management frames). PMF is an optional yet important WPA2 security feature. |

Received my Sonoff dualr3 units, I'v got the version 2.0 devices. The biggest change is new power metering IC. On ver.2.0 Sonoff use BL0939 chip from Shanghai-Belling. Was not able to find full datasheet of this IC. Maybe somebody already know how it compares with CSE7761? |

The driver has been merged in the development version and is not available mainstream in Tasmota32 9.5.0.8 at http://ota.tasmota.com/tasmota32/tasmota32.bin. You can upgrade your unit using OTA. A new template page will be created tonight or tomorrow |

What was recommended was not just CH340, but "golden CH340G" (good search terms), the one recommended in the docs. Sold many places, including Amazon. Make sure to actually get one with CH340G and not some other CH340, and the small voltage regulator (3 pins) near the yellow jumper for voltage selection (should be on 3.3v). To be explicit about words, I've successfully flashed Sonoff Dual R3 when soldering wires to tx/rx/vcc/gnd and then holding the button near the S1 terminal while applying 3.3v power. One reason for some USB/serial adapters not working reliably (especially with ESP32) is that they are not built for acting as a power supply at the same time. The recommended "golden CH340G" has a 150mA 3.3V voltage regulator, which is decent for flashing, but with ESP32 it may not be enough for connecting to wifi afterwards. You can also use a NodeMCU board as a good USB/serial adapter. |

Sonoff dual r3 do not have GPIO-0 on the button. You have to short it to
ground on the board. Look at the tutorial in the Docs.

I flashed all my dual r3 (5 devices, V1.6 and V2) holding down the button while powering them. A couple of times I had to push “harder” the button to let the device enter programming mode. |

I also flashed mine using wires for tx/rx/vcc/gnd, and the button for gpio0. Worked as expected. However, the older Sonoff Dual and Sonoff Dual R2 does not have the device button hooked up to gpio0. Maybe that was what caused the misunderstanding? |

Hello ... I've soldered a rigid pin to the 3,3V and to the Rx pad, this has beenvery stupid bcause when pusching the GPIO button I have damaged both the pads by stressing the soldering. For the 3,3 I followed the track and I foud the PIN on U1. can someone assist me to find the right place where to solder the Rx contact ? |

The pads for TX/RX connects to the closest two neighbor pins on the connection to the vertical module with the ESP32. In this image, it is the two adjacent pins pointed directly at from the RX arrow. You can also see the short traces on that undamaged board. |

As the labels on the PCB are pretty clear, the intention with the added arrows are to show how you connect from the USB/serial adapter, where tx/rx connections are to be crossed. CSE7761 TX/RX connect to gpio25/26 (my guess would be TX2/RX2, not checked this), not to gpio1/3 used for flashing. I don't know how much damage you did to the board, but the usual incident is to rip off a pad, and maybe some of the trace. I'd simply try connecting to the nearby points where the module connects to the main PCB. |

I have discovered that with Tasmota 10.0.0 there is no readings of second channel parameters, only first channel shows power measurements. Downgraded to 9.5.0 and everything works as expected. |

Sonoff Dual R3 is not yet in the template database but if it's based on ESP8266 it can be supported, even if 1st comer will have to do a little work
Beside I would recommend Shelly devices over Sonoff.
Prices were quite nice recently and you can easily flash it OTA to tasmota just with your web browser
