What do you need to do? Be able to partially erase pixels (i.e. for the eraser to support alpha)
Same goes for painting with the mask setting.
For example partially erasing the edge of a shape to get anti-aliasing. How would you like to do it? Just like the pen tools uses the opacity setting the blend the painted colour, have the eraser use the same setting ( currently the erase is dis-ables for anything other that opacity 255 ). So if the opacity as 128 it would half the opacity of the erased pixel.
