Notes

  • We will apply for GSoC and other initiatives. Please have a look at initial proposed timeline and events. Please suggest improvements and other events that we can put on the list to fill the entire year.

This is a result of a proposal submitted for the option to TSC -> Proposal for community building/scaling goals for 2022 #193
More in-depth details will come in Let's talk about contributing, 16 UTC Wednesday February 9 2022 - GSoC FAQ and others #256 live stream

  • We need to start preparation for conference if we really want to have in-person event. Because of time constraints, it can't take place sooner than September. It is difficult to do this for the first time as we have no idea how many people would come, we never had in-person event. We could join Linux Foundation efforts, they organize Open Source Summit in Dublin in September, have a venue for one track, 150ppl max. We could join them and organize a 2-day conference 2 days before them (Sunday and Monday) and it would make venue and organization cheaper. Sunday could be the contributor summit and Monday main conference for example. We need to decide ASAP and secure event budget.

We will now regularly sync efforts around conference during community meetings and if we think we need a dedicated meeting, we will organize. First, we need to figure out where we want to run discussions on GitHub. Please join #07_events on Slack.

  • There was a question about AsyncAPI Hackathon for 2022. The answer is that at the moment there is no one in the community that would lead that topic.

17:31:36 From Jonas Lagoni : Any idea if they have a setup for streaming the events to our channels?

17:39:58 From Sergio Moya : It’s hard to decide without really knowing the number of people that will come in person to a fully dedicated AsyncAPI event (and venue). Also what’s the impact of being kinda “overshadowed” by the other event?
17:41:15 From Abir : Yeah, makes sense
17:41:19 From Sergio Moya : The other option would be to stay small, like rent an small venue, for few hundreds and limit the number of tickets. We can test it out and learn for next year.
17:41:29 From Abir : I was thinking more for reach
17:43:57 From Abir : We can search in Poland itself? near Lukasz place

17:47:01 From Alejandra Quetzalli : Yikes! Not sure...
17:47:12 From Alejandra Quetzalli : That will be FUN to survive 😄
