Is there a web version we can embed into a website? Just the text editor part?

In short: Not yet. But not completely inconceivable.

Yup, definitely a "some day" plan, but given the amount of native code used right now, it isn't on the short term list.

Just getting the editor component to work though in Chrome is something we are thinking about in the nearer term.

Is there any progress on having the editor component work in a browser? Something like codemirror.
