Perhaps it is the spell checker which runs in plain text mode perhaps? Maybe try disabling the Also, just to confirm, can you reproduce this if you quit Atom and relaunch it with |
I disabled the spell-check and the lag disappeared. Is it a bug in the spell-check package? |
This will be fixed in the next Atom release, see atom/settings-view#271 |

I'm working on a Arch Linux x64 with atom v.0.139.0.
I realized that editing a file in Plain Text mode, the editor was awfully slow. When I'm typing everything takes time to appear on the screen and every ~10 seconds it lags even more for 1 second. Also, the wheel zoom is really slow. But, when I switch my file to C or C++ everything come back really fluid.
Someone has an idea why Plain Text is so slow?
