authifyNow is an early proof-of-concept on how a centralized database and public API can empower users to instantly verify the ownership of a website, thus protecting them from impersonation scams. A win-win solution for both users and brands.
authifyNow should be compatible with any Chromium-based browser. (Brave, Vivaldi, Edge, Chrome, Opera)
- Download latest release from the release page(ZIP File).
- Unzip the file, and now you'll have a folder
authifyNow-chrome - Move this folder to a permanent location. Do not delete this file after installation. (It's better if you have a custom folder where you store all your locally installed extensions.)
- Go to extension page on your browser.
chrome://extensions - Toggle and Enable Developer Mode.
- Click Load unpacked and select the extension folder.
- Install from Mozilla Addons page
Note: The current version of authifyNow sources data from public domain, whereas in the future data will be managed by the company itself.
Once you click on the extension , we get accesss to your current URL, and search the URL in the data obtained from the database. When there is an exact string match we display the data. We only verify the authenticity of the link, and any action communication and interaction between you as the user and the company or organisation is your responsibility.
Some links that weren't able to be verified doesn't make it is a fake website, it just means that it is not in the database. Please request the company to add those links into the database. When submitting data please use the official company email address, so that we can verify the authenticity of the link before adding to our database.
