thank you, tou saved me from a nervous breakdown.
I am just getting started on lambdas, and i couldn't get past that error on sam build --use-container:

Build Failed
Error: NodejsNpmBuilder:NpmPack - NPM Failed: npm ERR! code ENOLOCAL
npm ERR! Could not install from "../../home/joseph/workspace/lambda-refarch-webapp/todo-src/completeToDo" as it does not contain a package.json file.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong, until i read your issue. Now the build is passing.
