socketTimeout is timeout for per call/request timeout which happens in case of retry or it's total timeout for the request

Hi Team,

Need help to know more about socketTimeout, and if it has any affect in case of request retries.

Wanted to know if SDK will use it to timeout the request after mentioned value irrespective of the number retries happen for that request or SDK will use it to timeout the each request after specified time provided for this socketTimeout in case of retries?

Basically wanted to know if socketTimeout is used to timeout the main request initiated or it will be used to timeout the request that happens in case of retry for main request.

Using code snippet like below to set timeout to the client:

const nodeHTTPHandler = new NodeHttpHandler({
     socketTimeout: 10000
})


const LAMBDA = new LambdaClient({
          credentials: credentials,
          region: region,
          requestHandler: nodeHTTPHandler,
          retryStrategy: customStandardRetryStrategy
})

Also, need help to know how can we provide socketTimeout to client dynamically and not at the time of creation of client, like we provide delayDecider in retryStrategy using function as mentioned below, which SDK calls dynamically in case of retry.

const customStandardRetryStrategy = new StandardRetryStrategy(
    () => Promise.resolve(this.requestOptions.maxRetries),
    {
      delayDecider: (_delayBase, attempts) => {
        return this.requestOptions.retryDelay
      }
    }
)
