What would you like to be added:

We need to run capi backup on the EKS-A workload cluster itself during the workload cluster upgrade, to preserve the latest state of the cluster.

Why is this needed:

Currently we only backup CAPI of the management cluster and all its workload clusters during the management cluster upgrade. What if the workload cluster upgrade failed? we could end of with an outdated workload cluster CAPI objects (such as VMs, machines, etc.) which makes it hard to restore the workload cluster state.
