Uyghur Online Practice System is a web-based platform that provides users with the opportunity to practice the Uyghur Arabic script. This system presents users with a Uyghur word written in Arabic script, along with its Chinese translation. Users are then prompted to type the corresponding Uyghur Latin script according to the Arabic script, providing an exercise designed to improve Uyghur literacy skills.
This project is particularly significant given the fact that Uyghur is an official language of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region with 8-11 million speakers. It is widely used in both social and official spheres, as well as in print, television, and radio; and is used as a common language by other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. By making resources like the Uyghur Online Practice System available, we aim to support the preservation of Uyghur culture and language.
Additionally, Uyghur is a low-resource language, which means that there is a limited amount of language processing and computing resources available for the language. By developing this Uyghur Online Practice System, we hope to contribute to the development of Uyghur language resources and promote the use and understanding of this unique and rich language.
