For the database changes involved in the upcoming production deployment:

  • Spin up a new RDS database instance from the most recent production snapshot
  • Apply the state of migrations from develop
  • Identify subset of tables that we'd like to restore from staging into production
  • Drop just those tables and restore them on production

For the production deployment, ensure that pg_dump of the production database is taken before executing any of these steps.
