  • Added Sky dimension, based on unused b1.6 Sky dimension. This dimension is currently pretty bare, but does spawn all basic farm animals, hostile mobs, and evokers (as a stand-in for Minicraft's Air Wizard). You can find strongholds in this dimension.
  • Updated some tree gen related stuff.

  • Added rivers, includes the following new biomes:
    • River
    • Lukewarm River
    • Desert River
    • Cold River
    • Frozen River
  • Updated advancements and BAC Advancement compatibility pack to include river biomes.
  • Increased temperature range for cold/snowy biomes.
  • Increased minimum height for dry biomes, now closer to most other biomes again.
  • Removed trees from Plains biome.
  • Simplified decorators, should help with performance somewhat.
  • Other small changes.

  • Updated all forested biomes with count_multilayer decorator for tree gen, for more variable tree density. Reorganized tree decorator files.

Merged changes from 1.17 branch. Complete feature list, compared to initial 1.16.2 release:

  • Updated to grid-based biome distribution; this will make it easier to move around or add biomes in the future, if needed. In-game terrain gen/biome distribution doesn't appear to be significantly affected.

  • Overhauled beach generation:

    • Beaches now generate with sandstone underneath them.
    • Single-layer of gravel that generated as a consequence of using the Nether surface builder has been removed and replaced with b1.7.3-like gravel beaches that generate on a per-biome basis. Currently generates in cold beach and taiga biomes.
  • Reduced minimum height for most dry biomes to increase lake generation, for more Beta-like generation.

  • Reduced tundra generation and increased taiga/snowy taiga generation.

  • Reduced savanna generation and increased birch forest generation.

  • Reduced jungle/bamboo generation, Rainforests now replace them half of the time.

  • Increased Mushroom Fields, Badlands/Badlands Plateau generation somewhat.

  • Shifted swamp temperature range towards colder temperatures, to approximate Beta generation.

  • Increased base height of fancy oaks.

  • Added temporary fix for stone generating over y=127.

  • Added five biomes:

    • Rainforest; based on pre-b1.8 biome, generates with some oak bushes. Displaces jungle/bamboo jungle in some areas, so those biomes are now even rarer.
    • Savanna Grassland; based on pre-b1.8 savanna biome. Minimal foliage and tall grass.
    • Marsh; based on pre-b1.8 swampland biome. Generates alongside coastlines with minimal foliage and tall grass. Marsh and Swamp biomes now generate with marsh-like terrain in low areas.
    • Shrubland: A dry biome based on the pre-b1.8 biome, but now generates with bushes as well. Generates between forest, savanna, and plains biomes.
    • Ice Desert: A snowy desert biome based on the pre-b1.8 biome. Rarely found in tundra-savanna temperature range.
  • Modified 'Adventuring Time' advancement; now tracks all current Modern Beta biomes.

  • Added compatibility with BAC Advancements data pack. See pack credits.txt for all changed advancements.

  • Lightened sky color for temperate biomes.

  • Other minor changes.

  • Added two new (old?) biomes:

    • Ice Desert: A snowy desert biome based on the pre-b1.8 biome. Rarely found in tundra-savanna temperature range.

v1.5 1.16.2 Update

Updated to 1.16.2, will be moving to different branch for 1.17 snapshots.

  • Added seasonal forest biome, based on pre-b1.8 biome of the same name. This biome replaces forest when generating between jungles and plains.
  • Reduced height variation somewhat for some biomes, based on humidity/precipitation. This is to more closely mirror how pre-b1.8 terrain gen would reduce height variation at lower rainfalls, though this means that terrain gen is no longer 1:1 accurate with the old Neo-Beta preset.
  • Added warm beaches, with appropriate water colors to better transition into warm oceans.
  • Re-added beehives to forest trees.
  • Removed tall grass generation from snowy tundras to mimic pre-b1.8 equivalent.
  • Re-added temperature modifier to frozen oceans so they generate ice in patches like in vanilla.
  • Most biomes' sky and water colors have been updated to reflect their temperature range. Swamp grass/foliage colors use pre-b1.8 colors.
  • Some other small changes.

v1.4 Update

  • Appears to work out of the box for 1.16.2 Pre2
  • Updated biome and scale depth values, now terrain gen is a 1:1 match for the classic Neo-Beta customized preset in non-ocean/beach biomes.
  • Continuing the integration of taiga and giant taiga biomes with mountain biomes, those now spawn snow at y=95+ as the latter do.
  • Sea level raised back to 64
  • Squid now spawn in all biomes
  • Renamed beach biomes to match vanilla conventions

UPDATE

  • Also added Modern Improved data pack, which is literally just vanilla with Beta-style beaches.

v1.3 Biome Distribution Again

  • Bumped down first octave values for temperature and humidity to -9 and tweaked amplitudes with stronger values. Previously small biomes like Plains and Deserts will now generate in viably large sizes. Other land biomes and oceans are much larger. Biome edges are noisier for more variation.
  • Unfortunately Glacier and gargamel are eviscerated by this change.
  • For sure this will be the last change for 1.16.2!
