It's not technically abandoned, in the following sense:

  • There are a few projects that use this framework.
  • The project is monitored for feature / bug requests.

However, it hasn't seen much adoption or interest from the community, so things have been quiet.

This project was built with the following goals in mind:

  1. Provide missing functionality and better customization possibilities than what was possible with other frameworks at the time this project was started.
  2. Provide a foundation upon which it would be easy to build other framework-specific migration tools (this foundation is called baleen/migrations).
  3. Provide a simple, generic, migration tool implementation as an example or template: baleen/cli.

Some of those tools that this project intended to improve upon were Phinx, php-mig, and Doctrine Migrations – they're all great tools and you may want to check them out if you don't know about them yet. If you're using frameworks like Yii, or Laravel, they also have their own migration tools that you may want to use.
