Let's do our best to also link these examples from the core doc (where or if they contextually fit in) before calling this bug finished.

Increase the visibility of predefined build settings.

I was tempted to provide more detailed examples (like a full cycle
of defining and using in a `select()`). But I think longer examples
are appropriate for bazelbuild/examples#154.
