Complete rewrite of KEC to make the code readable and understandable. Small changes have been made in the way the program works, but every effort has been made to preserve the original functionality and intent of the program. In version 1.1, it is also possible that there will be minor variations in the speed of operation.

Changes in operation from version 1.0 include:

• Reverse option in exclude mode should now be significantly faster and consume less memory in most cases.
• Include mode now works differently from version 1.0 and will produce different results. Whereas in 1.0, k-mers that were contained in at least one sequence in the pool were preserved (as specified, however, this is usually not what is required), now only k-mers that are contained in each sequence in the pool are preserved.
