when hovering over the modifications in the psm view, could different colour be given to fixed and variable modifications, or a step further different colors to different modifications, e.g. six colors for the example shown in the slide which containing six modifications

fixed vs variable is more useful and realistic as the number of different colours is fixed to 2.
