Welcome to the CafeSync wiki!

CafeSync at its core is a location based, passive "business card" collection service. You setup your card, set it to share, and then just go about your day. The app "collects" other cards as you pass either a person that also uses CafeSync or a location that pays for the service. You can then check to see who all you collected and decide to save them or delete them at your leasure. However, to keep from overwhelming the user any unsaved card is deleted after a few days unless you pass by them again. As an added benefit the service checks for updates to the card so if the person you saved leaves their current employer or changes positions within the company it will reflect the changes so you don't have to worry about "dead" contacts.

On the business/location side the user gets a dashboard with analitics like who came in, what do they do for a living, who do they work for, etc. You also get a card that doesn't expire on the client. So as an example if 1UP was doing a special where all the games were free for the night, but the cover to get in was say 20 bucks. Assuming they were a CafeSync location they could advertize directy with the people they KNOW came into the building through the app. Or as another example System76 could advertise a sale to people walking or driving by the building.

The final part of the project is to have "SynCups" which are digital signage devices that a business could put into their location. Unlike most digtal sign providers the users of CafeSync are the advertisers, but its Business to Business. So say System76 pays to be a Location/Business you have CafeSync installed on your phone and because you're a good employee you set System76 as your employer. You take some handsome guy to 1UP or some other place that has a SynCup and within moments System76 has an Ad on the screen. Carl (or whoever) sees that his ad is being displayed at whatever this location is, and look at the card for that location if he wants. The SynCup adds the ad to the rotation for a few days and alterts the Business owner that their ad will be removed so that forces the person or business to go back to the location to continue advertising there. And because we're human if you go into a building you'll probably at least get a drink. So System76 gets to advertise to people, 1UP gets paid. Everyone wins.
