What is this repository for?

• Now Playing is built off of Bill Mote's (aka Android Fu) bootstrap application. The bootstrap application is intended to provide a baseline of functionality and a flexible, maintainable architecture to build on.
• Now Playing is also to demonstrate Bill's coding style and ability.

How good is this code?

Well, that's really up to you to decide ;) One of the reasons I put this application into open source was to encourage comment, scrutiny and debate. I can tell you that findbugs and PMD issues have all been resolved and the app gets a clean Bill of Health.
