Does privoxyvpn not work with irc (irssi in my case)

Does privoxyvpn not work with irc? (irssi in my case)
the proxy is working for my browser, i am using it atm as i write this, on port 8118. And i have tried it on my qbittorrent on port 9118 with socks5.

But irssi refuses to connect.
I have tried to connect to the proxy using proxychain (sudo apt install proxychain) and setup the socks5 ip port username password string in the config.
