Steps To Reproduce

  1. Go to 'Bitwarden'
  2. Click on 'Copy Password or Copy Username'
  3. Press 'Windows + V'
  4. Nothing will be there.

Expected Result

Passwords and usernames are supposed to go to clipboard history (I don't have clear clipboard turned ON in bitwarden)

Actual Result

Passwords and usernames are not going to clipboard history, it still works if I do CTRL + V but it would be really helpful if Clipboard History (Windows + V) worked.

Screenshots or Videos

No response

Additional Context

It goes to clipboard history if I use the Web extension, and a friend of mine has the last version of Bitwarden as well and it works just fine for him.

Operating System

Windows

Operating System Version

Windows 10 22H2

Installation method

Direct Download (from bitwarden.com)

Build Version

2023.12.1

Issue Tracking Info

  • I understand that work is tracked outside of Github. A PR will be linked to this issue should one be opened to address it, but Bitwarden doesn't use fields like "assigned", "milestone", or "project" to track progress.

Thank you so much! I don't have any information to add, other than when I downloaded an older version (the one I specifically tried was 2023.3.0), it worked as it should!

I believe this is intentional: #2621

As noted in the thread linked by @thericle, placing passwords in the password history is a big security vulnerability. This was evidently patched in PR #4516, and released in version 2023.10.0.

@Antiquely0947, if you have a preference for the old behavior, then you should post a Feature Request in the Community Forum.

So I would have to downgrade my bitwarden to get this feature back? It's weird because a friend of mine has the latest bitwarden version just like I do and they don't have this "issue", and it also doesn't happen for me on the browser add-on.

please make sure auto clearing of clipboard works after touching this.

Hello everyone,

Thank you, @Antiquely0947, for your report, and thank you everyone else for your input. This is the expected behaviour of the Bitwarden desktop client and more information about this matter can be found in this thread.

@Antiquely0947, if you'd like to change this behaviour, please feel free to submit your idea as a feature request in the Bitwarden community forums.

I will now proceed and close this GitHub report.

Thank you again,
