[Support]: Dumb Question: Do I leave /path/to/your/storage: in the docker compose file?

Describe the problem you are having

I'm setting up the docker compose file using the example on the installation page. I'm at this part:

    volumes:
      - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro
      - /path/to/your/config:/config
      - /path/to/your/storage:/media/Recordings

Am I supposed to leave the /path/to/your/storage and similar parts in, or should it look like this:

    volumes:
      - /etc/localtime:ro
      - /config
      - /media/Recordings

I'm sure this is a dumb question, I've never used docker or docker compose before so I'm pretty lost at this point. I don't suppose there's a step-by-step guide on everything that needs to be done to get this installed anywhere is there? Thanks!!

you are supposed to change /path/to/your/storage to wherever you want the files to be stored. Everything to the right of the : should not be touched

Ah okay, wow - exact opposite of how I had it 😆. Thanks again! I'm afraid I'm going to have more of these dumb questions, I've been searching the GitHub but not seeing anyone else that is having as much problems wrapping their head around this as I am.

It makes sense to me now that you've explained it - and seems kind of obvious in hindsight, but I guess what I'm missing that would help a lot is some examples of what a real one would look like. Looking through the rest I'm confused about these things and if there was more information somewhere or some examples to look at it would really help out:

- /dev/dri/renderD128:/dev/dri/renderD128 # For intel hwaccel, needs to be updated for your hardware
Like this one just says 'needs to be updated for your hardware' but I have no idea what that means. I have an nvidia card in mine. A link or something showing examples of what updating for your hardware means or how to do so would be amazing.

- /path/to/your/config:/config
Did I miss something here where I'm supposed to have created a config file and put it somewhere? How do I know what the path to my config is?

environment: FRIGATE_RTSP_PASSWORD: "password"
Do I just make something up here and it will be used later down the line - unclear if I'm supposed to be creating a password here or if this is supposed to come from something that is set up elsewhere that this needs to match or something.

The only other thing is that I guess I'm supposed to be familiar with how docker compose works (which I'm not) - so it's not immediately obvious what this whole file is supposed to be named or where it is supposed to be stored, but I think that's probably something I need to just know about docker compose and not frigate. I think I get the general gist of how to run this through docker compose from some videos tutorials I've watched though. Some step-by-step instructions like "name this file this" and put it here. Then open terminal and type this to start the installation, etc. would be helpful, but probably outside of the scope of what the install instructions page is going for.

Oh! Okay, I see now - with installation being higher up on the left menu I assumed I should be starting there, and I figured Getting Started was something that I'd get to after installation was complete. I'll start reading there!! Thanks again!!
