Try copying a message link and pasting it

  1. in a browser without Discord logged on, but with the desktop app installed
  2. in a browser with Discord logged on, but without having joined the guild or having access to the channel in a joined guild
  3. On a phone with the Discord app installed

This fails miserably for nearly all scenarios, without doing the obvious:

  1. A public community guild should have guest access even without captcha/logging in/peeking.
  2. In fact, I think this flow doesn't even trigger peeking when opened like this when logged in.
  3. If not having access, it should show this.
  4. If not logged in, and it's not a public guild, don't show a login wall, darnit!

Additionally, I feel guilds themselves if marked as public should be indexable for search engines, too. So much information that's stuck inside the Discord walled garden!

Again, Telegram does this remarkably well:

  1. t.me links have actual meaning in browsers
  2. public channels/groups actually have a little public view with context
  3. if not using a browser app, it'll ask you to open your installed app for the linked message/user/..
