TeX-Macros can go into the inline configuration -- see http://www.mathjax.org/docs/2.0/options/index.html?highlight=macros
That way, the feed entries won't start with $\newcommand$ (especially annoying on front pages)

That seems reasonable.
But to address your complaint, on our site, the feed entries don't start with that stuff...

Sorry, something went wrong.
I finally figured this out -- it's a user problem, putting newcommands at the beginning of their posts...
