Many brands have transitioned from using a combination of image, word, and slogan to adopting a simple icon that serves as a representative symbol for the entire brand (ignoring the Twitter X).

Beginning Today

With this in mind, I have reevaluated our brand.

Status quo

We currently have a charming wordmark inspired by the 'Skype' style that has served us well over the years.

Mobile Desktop

However, as times evolve, I believe it's time to elevate our branding to the next level.

Icon

BootScore is a combination of Bootstrap and the Underscores theme boilerplate. Breaking these two words down to the root leads me to create something very simple, like b_, which represents the boot and the underscore. Moving the _ below a capital B and using it as the sole for the boot simplifies it further and communicates two things in one icon using the golden ratio.

B + _

Placing the icon in a square allows an outline and a bold variant.

Descriptor

Icons can stand alone but they allow to skip the funny bootScore notation and use Bootscore as a descriptor instead using Inter font.

Colors

The logo supports both light and dark modes by utilizing Bootstrap's dark #212529 color for the logo on a light #f8f9fa background and switching to the light color for the logo on a dark background in dark mode. Bootstrap's primary link color is #0d6efd in light mode and #6ea8fe in dark mode, offering versatile usage options.

Usage with primary bg.

Icon fonts

I roughly generated an icon font, and it appears to work seamlessly with other icons in the btn-primary class.

screenshot

If approved, we can submit a PR to Font Awesome and Bootstrap Icons. With some luck, they might consider merging our changes.

Modifications

The logo can be modified within context, as long as its recognition value is retained.

Merch

If we find a global print-on-demand service for shipping, we have the opportunity to venture into merchandise sales as well.
