It would be great to be able to block sites like Facebook mobile web, from locking out a user from selecting text (espcially for the purpose of transalting it into thie native language).
Sites like Facebook mobile web, block the user from selecting text from posts, such as from the Lao COVID Taskforce, which doesn't post in English until hours after new measures are implemented. Lao government exclusively uses FB, or else I would get my news elsewhere.
Steps to reproduce
Got to Facebook mobile on Brave for Android
Try to select text
Be amazed
Actual result
You realize that Facebook controls the content they don't make.
Expected result
You can select text, copy it into your favorite translation app, and figure out what it is saying.
Issue reproduces how often
Every. Single. Time.
Version/Channel Information:
Only mobile web. If you install their invasive app, the text selection works fine. So, obviously it's not like it's DRM-content or something.
Can you reproduce this issue with the current Play Store version? Yes.
Can you reproduce this issue with the current Play Store Beta version? Yes.
Can you reproduce this issue with the current Play Store Nightly version? Yes.
Can you reproduce this issue with any mobile Chrome-based browser? Yes.
Device details
Install type (ARM, x86): ARM (they want my legs too)
Device type (Phone, Tablet, Phablet): Phone (probably the same issue across all mobile devices)
Android version: Latest for the Nokia 6.2. This has been a problem for a long time.
Brave version
Latest stable.
Website problems only
Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Shields? No.
Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Rewards? No.
Is the issue reproducible on the latest version of Chrome? Yes.
Additional information
People's lives are literally at risk. the UK variant is spreading rapidly through Laos, and the Lao government is trying to quickly get the spread under control. Information sent to both foreigners living in Laos as well as Lao citizens is incredibly important. Fixing this bug contributes to this.
It might seem innocuous, but if you try to use the Facebook mobile site on Brave, you will quickly realize how much Facebook hates you, and what they do to make your experience a living hell. Try it. You'll soo realize how badly people need to stop using Facebook to share government news, family life events, and cat pictures. I literally wouldn't even trust them with cat pictures. End rant.
