How to disable endpoint dependencies for shields?

Description

In Android builds, none of the shields work without endpoint authentication. How can endpoint authentication be disabled so that the shields work? Is there a particular file or any code to be commented which would disable that requirement so that the shields work? In older builds, there was no such endpoint dependency. Thanks!
