Description

I currently set my Homepage to chrome to open a specific bookmarks folder (located under chrome-native://bookmarks), so when I press the Home button I get to a list of bookmarks which act as a speed dial. However, when opening a New Tab I get the default new tab page with unpinnable links that frequently change. In Firefox iOS (though not on Android), you can customise both the Homepage as well as the New Tab URLs, whilst in Firefox Android you can pin specific URLs.

I'd like Brave's Settings to include the option to specify a URL for the New Tab Page in a similar way to what it does with the Homepage.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a new tab in Brave Android.

Actual result

The New Tab Page is opened, but is different from my pre-set Homepage.

Expected result

Have the option to customise the New Tab Page's URL to (in my case) match the Homepage's or any other URL.

Issue reproduces how often

Easily reproduced, all the time.

@srirambv @ShintoPlasm this issue is similar to #13714.

@deeppandya Apologies, but how is this issue in any way similar to #13714? I don't need any top-sites and wasn't requesting this - instead, this issue is about the ability to specify a custom URL for the NTP, separately from the Homepage.

@deeppandya this is more on adding a new setting for new tab similar to desktop

What I meant was something like in Firefox iOS:
