I don't know which update this was, but one of the last few. Since updating, I'm having an issue where actions creating new tabs (middle click a link, ctrl-t, etc) are creating what I'm calling "dead tabs." These tabs are non-openable, but will appear after a restart of Brave. This also seems to affect pinned tabs, as two of my three are dead, but also seem to be non-recoverable -- they're not coming back after restarting.

From this screenshot, you can see both type of dead tab.

On the left, my pinned tabs you can see spinning. When I hover them, I get a blank screen preview. When I click them, nothing happens.

On the right, I have a tab that I created by trying to click Brave -> Help -> About to get the exact build number for this report. Instead, it's now an empty tab that similarly does nothing when clicked.

I really hope this is something you guys are able to identify. This is happening for me on about 50% of Brave launches, which is making it pretty hard to use. I'm realizing that I create new tabs surprisingly often.

Oh, and I should mention these tabs are not closable. There is no X on them, and the right click doesn't trigger a menu. The pinned tabs do trigger a menu on right click, but unpin isn't an option, so I'm just stuck with them :(

Also, after restarting a couple more times, I was able to get them to load again. Brave version confirmed as 0.19.53.

I have the same issue and was only able to resolve it by creating a new window and copy/pasting the urls of each of the tabs. Afterwards I close the original window.

I also experience this sometimes when dragging a tab from one window to another. Just now encountered it in 0.19.88 on macOS.

+1 from me, just experienced this on 0.19.88. Note, I had done the steps in the gif about 10 times (on both 0.19.88 and 0.19.95) but only experienced this one time.

After closing and restarting Brave, I could close the dead tabs (they now had an X) and I was not able to reproduce the issue.
