Now that we're code signing with a new certificate (#3050) the Defender pop-ups have returned and will probably be with us for a few weeks/months. Based on my own testing, thankfully it seems that the pop-up is not shown when users are auto-updating from prior releases, so hopefully not a lot of users will even see the pop-up. New users that do see it may just quickly click through it and not freak out. But just in case some users make a fuss as happened years ago, I figure it helps to have it documented as something to expect.
