README

Information

This file contains information about the scriptsand other material that supplements the thesis "Temporal Dynamics of Depressive Symptomatology: An idiographic time series analysis". In the general folder, the R project file IdiographicTSA.Rproj can be found. It is easiest to run all the scripts from this Project. The folder structure is as follows:

Output

This folder contains various figures and animations used in the manuscript, supplement or not used yet. Importantly, nets539_id2.gif is the GIF of all 539 models estimated for participant 2 that is referenced in a footnote of the manuscript.

Further general output:

  • 3network_idxx.svg: Visualization of networks at estimation points 2, 10, 19 for each ID
  • varying_pars_id_xx.svg: Visualization of 3 most time-varying parameters for each ID
  • network_gif_xx.gif: GIF of all 20 estimation points for each ID
  • timeseries_allvars.pdf: Visualization of each univariate time series for each ID
  • histograms_allvars.pdf: Histograms for each item for each ID
  • network_plots_all_ids.pdf: All 400 network models

More specific output:

  • boot_samp_violin.svg: Visualization of bootstrapped sampling distribution for Supplemental Material
  • bw_comparison.svg: Illustration of 3 different bandwidths for manuscript
  • bw_ser_id_11.svg: Visualization of one-standard-error rule for ID 11 for Supplemental Material
  • four_varying_pars_id_6.svg: Varying parameter visualization with AR effect of rumination for manuscript
  • varying_pars+rel_id_x_.svg: Varying parameter visualization with sampling distribution for manuscript

Scripts

This folder contains all scripts needed to reproduce the analyses in the study. The scripts are numbered and should be used in that sequence. Still, each script contains loading comments to load all relevant data or functions from other scripts. These are the scripts:

  • 1. Preprocessing.R: Contains missing data procedures and imputation, creates final data set.
  • 2. Descriptives.R: Contains all descriptives used in the manuscript.
  • 3. Analysis.R: Contains all main and preregistered analyses in the manuscript.
  • 4. Additional Analyses.R: Contains all analyses for the supplementary material as well as further visualizations.
  • 5. Block Bootstrap Server.R: Contains code to perform the bootstrap stability analyses for computation on a Linux server.
  • Auxiliary Functions.R: Contains aux functions that are sourced throughout the other scripts.
