When you change the chart scale, custom lines and axis ticks transition smoothly, but the background grid just jumps suddenly to the new scale. Would be great if the background grid transitioned smoothly too.

Wouldn't be hard to do with CSS transitions. Probably on hold until after #774 is merged — closing until then.
