Carlos Torres - @carlostxrres

Hi Hi there,

I'm a passionate vanilla JavaScript developer with 2 years of hands-on experience. Currently, I'm working at Amazon, where I dedicate my skills to streamlining processes and boosting productivity for a customer support team with complex business needs. My professional role has empowered me to take full ownership of projects, from conception to deployment, enabling me to architect and think at scale.

I'm obsessed with writing clean, maintainable code and following the best practices. I'm particularly enthusiastic about the advancements in modern JavaScript (ES6 and beyond).

While my journey in tech is mostly self-taught, I've enriched my experience through rigorous training programs focused on both front-end and back-end technologies:

  • In 2023, I completed a bootcamp in Back-End Web Development at IronHack Barcelona. There, I immersed myself in Java, Spring Boot, JPA, SQL (MySQL), and Git, culminating in the development of a Barcelona real estate API for publishing, searching, and bookmarking listings.
  • As of March 2024, I'm advancing my front-end capabilities through a Front-End Web Development bootcamp at the same school, where I'm eager to learn Vue.js.

Before my dive into the tech world, my academic and professional background was in political science and linguistics.

What I do at GitHub

There are two reasons why I am at GitHub:

  1. To store personal learning projects: I store personal projects that reflect my learning journey outside my job and area of expertise.
  2. To learn collaborative software development: By working independently, I am missing the collaborative aspect of software development. I am here to connect with fellow developers, contribute to open-source projects, and grow my understanding of collaborative software development.
