Currently there are tags that are not available as commits in master. @catalinii which version should be the currently newest 1.2.x version? There is now an odd situation 6718f2be93f186df63895e5e29c576cbd94e5432 is tagged as both 1.2.99 and 1.2.74.

Furthermore, assuming 1.2.97 is supposed to be the latest version (the latest commit in the master branch), there are some dangling tags (1.2.100, 1.2.101 and 1.2.102).

I suggest we remove all tags newer than 1.2.97, and then go from there. @catalinii what do you think?

We can actually remove all tags after 1.2.74. 1.2.74 - 1.2.97 is a list of broken releases that are now in next

Upstream removed releases 1.2.74 - 1.2.97 because they were broken and
they seem to reuse the version numbers.
