A PPA for for easy installation and update for Ubuntu would be nice.

Yes, it's already in the works and will be there soon.

PPA with daily builds is now ready:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:christian-boxdoerfer/fsearch-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install fsearch-trunk
