The version we use to build chaos have once again become stale; our Vagrantfile refers to Debian version 9. The current version is Debian 11 ("bullseye") and Debian 12 ("bookworm") is soon to be released. We should follow suit and upgrade our build tooling to support this, including supporting the new gcc version(s) shipped with these GNU/Linux releases.
