Goban example
In this example, I focus in the middle and try to have everything behind in acceptable focus. This example is a bit more challenging because the camera is tilted significantly down.
Here is the scene:
It is important to note how h is measured due to the tilt.
For best accuracy, the segment measured does not reach the floor but is just slightly above (at the Goban height) but you can ignore it.
Here we have these parameters:
- f = 62mm
- h = 54cm
- r = 1/2
Consequently we have f# = 62 * 0.5 * 800 / 540
f# = 46
This is too challenging but f/18 which was used is still ok if the image is not enlarged.
The dof calculator gives the same results. I was shooting at distance = 75mm to the focus point, it goves a dof of about 40cm which corresponds to the size of the goban.
