As we are willing to improve our implementation over time, enabling as many applications as possible, our specification is modular, and it is not rigidly defined.

Similar to the OSI model, it consists of many layers which can evolving independently:

  1. Colors: This is the most fundamental layer which associates colorvalues with transaction outputs.
  2. Color descriptors: Provides a way to refer to colors.
  3. Asset definitions: Provide 'meaning' to colors, associating them with meta-data.
  4. Wallet model: Defines how colored coin wallets are implemented.
  5. Color addresses
