This is basically just the circuitikz american gas filled surge arrester without the circle and the dot. Fittingly, the construction of an unenclosed spark gap is also basically the same as a surge arrester minus the gas and the tube around it.

This is sometimes done as a cheaper alternative to surge arresters by just using PCB traces shaped like arrow tips pointing at one another, but is also used as an active part of the circuit in high voltage circuits like tesla coils. If the spark gap is enclosed (but not gas filled), it would have a circle around it like the surge arrester, without the dot indicating gas filling:

Obviously this is not difficult to recreate using tikz inbuilt arrows, but it would still be handy to have this as a bipole. Another option is to just allow toggling both the outer circle and dot of americangfsurgearrester.

I'll add it when I have a bit of time.

Hmm. I tried to add options to the surge arrester, but I think that that component is quite buggy. So, I created a new one.

Does it feels ok?

Er, clearly the description will not be "Yay". 😉

Looks good to me!

Several new components, and a bug fix for a nasty long-standing bug about switching diode types.

- Added a Relais-Shape (contributed by [Jakob "DraUX" on GitHub](circuitikz#795)
- Added a center tap anchor for tube's filament (suggested by [user bogger33 on GitHub](circuitikz#792))
- Added neon lamps (two versions, suggested by [user bogger33 on GitHub](circuitikz#793))
- Added a configurable spark gap (suggested by [user bogger33 on GitHub](circuitikz#800))
- Fix a long-standing problem when [(locally) switching diode type](circuitikz#794)
