Thanks for providing some performance profiles. Since the aging code seems to have a non-trivial impact on the CPU usage, I tried to suggest some places where computation could be optimized. These are all small optimizations, but could provide some improvement. (Unfortunately, caching all the radius values is probably prohibitive in terms of memory.)
A question: which geometry version was used to obtain the dose map (v9, v10, something older)?

- you could do this once in the code below and pass in radius2
to both functions

if this information eventually needs to be accessed in multiple places (e.g. also local reco), this class should be promoted to an ESSource
