@zxiiro however, if you like, you can get the release/0.12 branch which will be equal to the coming release 👍 Then you are up-to-date :)

Bump, hoping to get some progress here.

@Makman2 Thanks for the suggestion I'll see if that's something I can do, but having a real release would be nice.

Sadly @Mixih hasn't continued since then :/ We're a bit covered in GSoC work, so I hope you don't mind that it can take a bit longer.

For sake of completeness, to install coala from release/0.12:

git clone https://github.com/coala/coala
git checkout release/0.12
python3 setup.py install

Any update on this release? The last one is more than a year old.

The branch which was create is now very stale.

There were blockers to that release which havent been fixed yet, especially #5157 .

There are also lots of problems which have been found since then which would make that branch point quite unfeasible for a quick release as we would need to back port a lot of fixes since then. e.g. #5583 which has implications with coala-utils also.

I'm not sure if it is better to do that, and have a very stable release, or create a new branch point in the near future (probably after gsoc finishes)?

But we havent been idle. There has been a bit of a strategy, which I've written up (only now) as coala/meta#123 , and we've nearly finished the first step of that.

Coala continues to be quite active however there has not been a new release in a very long time. Can we get a new release in the near future?

Whether it's 0.12 or 0.13 or any version I think it will be useful to be able to download more recent versions of coala from PyPi.

Without regular releases this project is effectively dead. My teams have moved away from using Coala and migrated to https://pre-commit.com/ which has served us well as a replacement for Coala. Hope this helps for anyone else who is stuck with outdated Coala releases.

Hi @sils, could you provide an update on the status of coala and it's bears?

Hey everyone, the project needs a bit of kickstart to get it up again. The previous maintainers have all gone busy and I'm probably the only one left with the maintenance task. I'm not sure about the next release but if we get enough contributions we can do some releases.

Until then I welcome all contributions, I can help with reviews and getting changes merged. My plan is to get coala in next GCI, GSoC project and try building it up from there.
