Feature overview

The basic features of De Urgență are:

  • allowing the user to configure addresses which are important for them, and safe points where they plan to regroup in case of an emergency (and storing these for offline usage)
  • drawing routes between the set of addresses and the set of safe points, to guide the user (and storing these for offline usage)
  • allowing the user to configure an emergency backpack, with pre-set categories of items that it should contain, and allowing them to track the list of items they have packed from each category
  • allowing the user to track the expiry date of all the objects in the emergency backpack which will eventually expire
  • allowing the user to keep track of their first-aid certifications (if they have any)
  • allowing the user to set the expiry dates of their first-aid certifications in the app and empowering them to keep their first-aid skills up to date by prompting them to re-take the certification once it expires
  • allowing the user to find certified first-aid courses in their area

On top of these features, there are two additional layers which allow the user to connect with other users:

  • the emergency backpacks can be shared with other users, so that multiple people can keep track of the same backpack (and be notified when the items inside expire)
  • groups can be created, and each group can have additional safe points
  • when a user is added to a group, they can see the safe points configured for the group and additional routes are created (and stored for offline use) that connect the addresses of the user with the safe points of the group
  • a user can chose to allow the group members to see their private addresses, which allows all other members of the group to store these (and the corresponding routes) - this allows people to attempt to look for each other, in the very frightening event of an earthquake
