A suggestion, but I feel the models should not be very detailed or high poly- meshing sprops/hl2 together with highly detailed models always tends to look very wrong. I believe that keeping with the low-ish detail scheme like ACF will be the best.

Also, a model suggestion, track segments and curves (halfway around sprockets/idlers) with track details/textures might be a good idea. You can also animate the model/material with bodygroups/material manipulation in E2. You would need at least 10 speeds of movement to achieve a decent looking moving tread. Basically, think Red's track chip, but with models specifically designed for that kind of tread system.

thats actually nice idea
never tired tex-anim imho so its for now low priority
however segments are on my todo list (small one with bodygrouped mounts like on side turret of kingtiger)
