I'm using Github Actions and a self-hosted runner to execute my hardware in the loop tests. Specifically, my DUT has 3 MCUs on it. They all connect to the runner (RPi5 in this case) using USB, and show up as
/dev/ttyACMx
.I'm going to be switching to using the
/dev/serial/by-id/usb-...
path, as I want to prevent the MCUs from enumerating in different orders, and the number at the end of ttyACMx will change. What's the best practice around managing this? My first thought is to make some symbolic links in a known directory, but that seems possibly error prone.
Also, is are there features within the self-hosted runner that would help with this? Or is it strictly at an OS level?
