How do you specify workflow names that have special characters for workflow_run?

I already looked at github/docs#12572, however using the escape characters didn't seem to help and we still get syntax errors:

We use [] characters to specify certain categories for our workflows. It gives our devs a sign of which workflows they should be using and which they shouldn't worry about.

I was also wondering if there could be an alternative to specify workflows to trigger off. Maybe filepath name etc?

Did you try removing the backslashes but keep the quotes? (Quotes force strings and don't need special chars to be escaped)
