- e.g. pics are received as bytes and need to be converted to something json-serializable before they can be rendered on HTML

This PR also adds an actual bokeh plot for more realistic testing and to make debugging bokeh plots easier. |

This resolves a bug where screenshots of picture outputs look like this:
