This builds locally using ./build-locally.py. Thus it seems like this is a cross-compilation issue.

@conda-forge/help-osx-arm64 Did we ever cross-compile Metal anywhere? Do we have an idea which flags to pass?

We successfully cross-compiled pytorch for metal support. I believe you need to change the osx image (I will try it out in a different PR). I think that's what the logs are pointing to...
