Setting up TTS: AttributeError when running config

Issue

I was recently trying to install the TTS from source on a windows computer, but when I got to the stage where I ran TTS/bin/train_tacotron.py with the config path Desktop\Projects\TTS\TTS\speaker_encoder\configs\config.json, python ran into some issues.

The error I got was inside TTS\config\__init__.py where the code (at line 38)

model_name = model_name.replace("_generator", "").replace("_discriminator", "")

throws an error saying AttributeError: 'dict' object has no attribute 'replace'.
I'm a bit stumped since I doubt this code has issues as its being used by everyone here, but I couldn't find any instances online of anyone using .replace on a dictionary before in python.

My guess is that python is probably getting confused through some incorrectly installed packages?
I've been following this windows setup guide recommended in the readme, and I haven't been using cuda since I assume my graphics card can't support it (it downloaded but cuda.is_available returns false)

Mey bet it is about windows or your python version

Thanks for the reply, my python version is 3.8, so i would think it falls within the allowable range as it is just before 3.9

You used the wrong config. For tacotron training check here https://github.com/coqui-ai/TTS/tree/main/TTS/tts/configs
