Description

A customer added notes to an order (both the order notes and line item notes)

They put in an emoji, like so:

I hope that is clear 🤞🏼

...this broke a fair bit. They can't checkout, can't view the cart etc.

On the back end, I can't view Active or Inactive carts either.

In all cases the 500 Server Error is:

{"error":"An exception has been thrown during the rendering of a template (\"Control character error, possibly incorrectly encoded.\")."}

This issue seems very much related...but claims to be solved.

Steps to reproduce

  • Add an emoji to some order custom field data
  • Wait for explosion...

Additional info

I'm pretty much up to date. Server is a ServerPilot managed bog standard Ubuntu 18.04/LAMP job with MySQL 5.7
