- This package including the pre-compiled dynamic library 
  xlsReadWrite.dll can be freely distributed and used for any purpose.

- All components other than xlsReadWrite.dll are licensed under GPLv2 with
  an explicit exception to allow to link the non-free flexcel source code.

- The dynamic library xlsReadWrite.dll does qualify as a binary distribution
  and contains binary code from the flexcel library which is used and distributed
  under the license granted to Hans-Peter Suter, Treetron, Switzerland.
  The library may not be distributed separately from the xlsReadWrite package.

The package is a non-free non-standard package (from an R point of view). It is 
dynamically loaded into R and interfaces R only through LGPL'ed API header files. 
According to the announcement in 2001 such code is allowed to be distributed under 
licenses other than GPL. See also the statements in the file "R_Home/Doc/COPYRIGHTS".
